Speech 7 in the ToastMasters Competent Communicators manual “Research Your Topic”
The objective is: to collect information about a topic from a variety of sources; support points and opinions withspecific facts, examples and illustrations.
I took 8mins 10 secs - it should have been 5 to 7 minutes …which it did in practice! One of the most enjoyable speeches yet, it was improved by writing the speech several days earlier and making the time to try it in front of my mentor BEFORE practicing the final version on the day.
Jason McGarva shares his insights on how to keep a conversation going using the power of open ended questions. This is his 4th speech in the Competent Communication manual. This video was filmed at a regular meeting of the Providence Toastmasters club in Providence, Rhode Island.

This speech was delivered in May 2007 for the District 21 Toastmasters Speech Contest.
I completed the Competent Communicator manual after delivering this speech. This speech is more of a review of my journey with Toastmasters. By sharing my experience and the benefit earned from Toastmasters, I’d like to inspired the audience to get more involved with Toastmasters.
